Chris manages a vast area including 151 parks, 14 pools, and extensive pathways with a $50+ million budget, improving facilities and programming without adding staff. He's enhanced business strategies, contributing to a 200% increase in programs.An experienced speaker, he's conducted 500+ sessions nationwide on various park and recreation topics and co-authored a section in a prominent industry textbook. A Certified Parks and Recreation Executive, he serves on the CAPRA and holds advanced degrees in Recreation and Sports Management, and a Doctorate in Parks and Recreation Administration.
Kevin Schmidt

Kevin Schmidt is the Executive Director of the Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District, where he is dedicated to fostering a strong team, achieving financial sustainability, serving the public, and planning for the future. Throughout his career, Kevin has worked in diverse roles and settings, including commercial recreation, nonprofit recreation, municipalities, special districts, and owning his own business. His professional journey has taken him to Mexico, Oregon, Arizona, and Utah, where he has gained a wealth of experience across many facets of the field. This experience has made him a passionate advocate for the essential role the industry plays in enhancing communities and improving the quality of life of their residents. Kevin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation from Utah State University and a Master’s degree in Recreation and Tourism Management from Arizona State University. In addition to his leadership role at Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District, Kevin serves as an associate instructor in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism at the University of Utah. He is committed to mentoring future practitioners and sharing his insights from decades of service in the field.
